Our Philosophy

From the moment a child is born, the foundations for life shaping skills such as impulse control, empathy and     perhaps most importantly, the ability to trust is beginning to be laid through daily interactions between child and parent.  When parent-child interactions are nurturing, consistent and attuned, the stage is set for healthy emotional, social and cognitive growth.  The child values relationships and is able to grow into an empathic, emotionally sound adult.

Unfortunately, the early experiences of many children are marred by abuse, neglect, institutionalization, trauma or disruptions in care.  LifeWorks Family Treatment Group of Kansas City recognizes that when children join their families later in life, families often face special challenges and benefit from specialized professional support and intervention.
