IV Nutrition Therapy – FAQs

FAQs

IV Nutrition Therapies are pretty cutting edge, in the sense of what we’re providing from a nutraceutical standpoint. It is something that we’ve been wanting to implement within LifeWorks Integrative Health for the last 10, 11 years. Now it’s become more of a demand, and necessity than it has ever before because of how inflamed and how toxic many of the patients coming in are.

We say that because the GI tract is extremely inflamed to the point that the oral administration of nutrients and things that we’ve done in the past and had good success on, we’re not having as quick a result as we typically would expect in a larger percentage of these patients.

That’s why we brought IV Nutrition Therapy to LifeWorks.

GOT QUESTIONS? WE HAVE ANSWERS!

Is IV Nutrition Therapy Safe?

If IV Nutrition Therapy is done by a trained professional like at LifeWorks Integrative Health, they’re going to make sure that the ingredients are clean, purchased from reputable compounding type pharmacies and suppliers, and we make sure that the osmolarity, the balance within that IV bag or push that we’re going to be providing is absolutely within a safe range so we don’t cause an imbalance within your physiology.

Then every IV is administered by one of our nurses or practitioners who have been properly trained in how to provide the catheterization or butterfly needle to deliver the nutrients into your vein.

So, yes, they are safe.

Do IVs Hurt?

The most painful part of getting an IV is really just getting the needle stuck into the vein, which for any of you that have had a blood draw that’s essentially what it feels like. It just feels like a simple pinch or a bee sting. Actually dripping the fluid in, actually pushing the particular IV in or nutrients in rarely cause any pain.

What Conditions Can IV Nutrition Therapy Be Used for?

There’s a lot of conditions that IVs can treat and help the patient deal with. Those range from anything from cardiovascular disorders, anti-aging or graceful aging, to athletic recovery, detoxification, hydration issues, migraines, headaches, energy levels, allergies. We have some therapies designed to improve patients that have cancer and getting through that cancer whether they’re using chemotherapy and doing things to boost their immune system.

How Long Do IVs Take?

Because there are multiple variables that play into how long an IV takes, our answer is, “It depends.” IV infusions can take anywhere from five minutes if we’re just doing a simple push with a Mini Myers cocktail of some sort, or a couple of hours if it is more complex.

What Can't I Just Take These Nutrients Orally?

With IV Nutrition Therapy we bypass the lymphatics and GI tract, thus delivering nutrients directly into the bloodstream in an active form. As a result we get therapeutic levels of various vitamins and minerals into your system immediately, without causing GI irritation or other unpleasant side effects.
