Research Suggests There Is A Better Approach To Knee Pain Relief

A landmark study from Baylor Medical School used this headline for their report “Study Finds Common Knee Surgery No Better Than Placebo.” The New York Times article about this study calls it a “sham procedure.” This study challenges the usefulness of arthroscopic lavage or debridement surgery finding the effectiveness no better than that of placebo surgery. An additional study including 180 participants found that people who had no surgery (placebo surgery) did better than those who had cartilage removed or flushed out.
